Grounding in Eo estuary. On July 15, 2016, the "Daniel K.", loaded with 4,000 tons of paper pulp, ran aground in the Eo estuary at Figueras. The ship had loaded the cargo at the paper pulp factory Ence in Navia. Around 1.30 p.m. during manoevers in the navigation channel of Ribadeo, it got stuck in the sand. Despite attempts to get off, the ship finally had to wait for the next high tide, 12 hours later, when two tugs pulled the ship off.
